Bus tour great, NBC not so.

The bus tour was great, the guide was very informative and knowledgeable. We had to get off the bus 3 times which was ok, but a lot of time was wasted in the getting on and off. There were a great amount of facts and sites that were shown!! A++ The NBC studio tour was not that great. After they show you a bit of a movie in a small theatre then they show you some show sets. But only 2 we saw, we spent more time in the elevators than looking at stuff. It wasn't that exciting.

Excellent guide - a lot of fun

Some of my party do not like rice pudding and would have preferred a 'snack stop' at a more diverse location than Rice to Riches (I loved it!).

Should be more for the money

The TV/Movie Sites tour showed several sites, mostly from the same handful of movies. The guide would point out the sites but the bus would drive right past the sites, barely slowing down for a good picture. We only got off the bus 3 times, and when we first got to the tour bus, there was no sign or banner or anything to let you know this was the TV/Movie Sites tour bus. The NBC Studio tour advertised that you would see the Make-Up room for SNL and Conan O'Brien but it was just a room with 3 TVs showing a loop of what the make-up artists do during 1 SNL skit. I expected A LOT more from these tours so I was a bit let down, but it was still a fun time and definitely something different.

THE GOOD, THE BAD...THE UGLY

NEW YORK TV/MOVIE SITES: It was really too long (3,5 hours). Most of the sites shown were old movies/tv shows that I've never heard of. In the description of this tour, it was said that we would see, for example, where Ugly Betty was filmed, but we only saw it from afar and that wasn't fun (it's my favorite show). The few stops we did were a bit uneccessary, with the exceptions of the Rice and Riches (is that the right name?) and the Friends building. I was certain, by reading the description of the tour, that we would go inside Schwarz, but we didn't. The only thing I really liked about the tour was the tour guide (I'm afraid I can't remember her name). She is rather petite, short blonde hair, loves to sing. If it hadn't been her, the tour would've been dull and boring. I would suggest to make the tours shorter and clearer as to what will be seen. Personally I would've preferred a tour of recent movies/tv shows. NBC STUDIO TOUR: It was nice. It didn't last too long and wasn't too short. The video explaining NBC's history was interesting. I was lucky to visit two sets of shows that I love: SNL and Conan O'Brian. It would've been extra special if we had the chance to meet at least meet one NBC personality. My only complaint is the tour guides. They were young girls who seemed to be giving the tour for the first time and didn't bother to do their best. One brunette named Ali and another blonde (I can't remember the name). They were unprofessional. Ali yawned in front of everyone multiple times, on the rare occasions that she smiled it was obvious that it was forced and insincere, she talked in a bored tone, and when I asked her a question concerning make-up on SNL, she simply answered with an impatient yes, without trying to elaborate. I've done many tours during my stay in NYC and she was the worst guide. My friends and I found her to be an extremely rude and unprofessional person. I honestly hope she gets fired!

My husband and I really enjoyed the bus tour.

This was our first trip to New York City. We chose this tour on the recommodation of a friend. Our tour guide, Roseanne, was full of energy and a lot of fun. She filled us with a bunch of information. I would highly recommend this bus tour.

Enjoyable TV tour

We enyjoyed our tour combo. We had taken the NBC tour before and it is always enjoyable and informative. The TV location tour was a fun way to see the city as well as hear interesting facts about the shows that were filmed on location. I would recommend taking this tour early in your trip so that you have time to return to the locations on your own. The only thing that seemed a little off was the stop at Rice to Riches. It was interesting to see it and we did go back a few days later to sample on our own but it seemed a bit too commercial to have it be a stop on the tour where you could buy food. I wondered if they gave the company a kick back for stopping there. Otherwise it was enjoyable.

Informative and entertaining

We found our guide very knowledgable and entertaining (can't remember his name but he's the one who does some acting work). The bus was great and we liked the fact that you could see video clips of the movies which featured the various sites visited. One draw-back about the combo ticket is the hassle encountered in booking the NBC studio tour portion... there was nobody answering the phones, just a machine, which it tricky if you're only in town for a short time.

Enjoyable but bus tour too long

Our guide was very good. My one recommendation is to shorten the bus tour. 3.5 hours is a bit too long.
