| I enjoyed it a lot. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. I was disappointed we didn't get into the graffiti place. It was a lot of fun. Joe Flynn | ||||||

| The tour guide was very energetic & passionate about what he was doing & did his best to answer questions throughout the tour. Eating in Harlem was a good experience to get a feel of the place, the experience could have been enriched if this part of the tour was combined with a mini walking tour taking in Spanish Harlem aswell. The Bronx part of the tour didnt really explore the area in the same way as the Harlem part but the breakdancing part of it was good & getting some of the tour party involved in the dancing & MC ing on the bus was good. Maybe an oppurtunity to try some scratching would have been good. Overall goodee good tour, but dont expect too much in the 4hrs & you shouldnt be dissspointed. The tour guide was good but maybe if he was a little more open-minded about the different contributions made by different artists rather than his view then this would have been nice. | ||||||

| My granddaughter and I (at her request) found Hush Hip Hop Tours online. Grand Master Cas led our tour and was extremely informative about the origins and evolution of Hip Hop. Like many musical pioneers, he had his own story to tell about the very beginning of Hip Hop and how some of his early material was used without his inclusion in future financial gain. Our bus was not especially lively or open to interaction, unfortunately. I think we ended up mostly with tourists and folks who weren't into the rap. Cas was extraordinarily knowledgeable and the B-boys were terrific, too! The tour could be expanded in a way that would encourage more participation and questions among those with a desire to know the genre. Too, the significance of Harlem as the cultural heartbeat of Black Americans could be expanded. I will recommend this tour and I would also take other visitors on it. Many kudos to the founder of this tour, Debbie, and Grand Master Cas for undertaking this important effort. | ||||||

| I am a 32 year old B Boy from England, my whole reason to go to NYC was to see first hand where Hip Hop began. When i found out about the tour online, i thought yeah right like im going to meet a real pioneer....well how wrong was i!. We found the meeting place easy, Debbie was really nice to meet, the group was a mixture of races ages and religions-the way real hip hop is. When our guide arrived i was shocked to meet the one and only "Grandmaster Caz" from the hip hop legendary group the "Cold Crush Brothers". I was shocked after seeing him on tv, movies and listening to his music for over 25 years of my life-there he was in front of me!!!! this guy is a legend no doubt, he really broke it down for everyone and explained in a fun way about hip hop-he really is such a nice person who answered all the questions even my annoying show of hands as i knew the answers to so many of his questions!!!. The whole tour really did make my holiday to NYC complete and i would like to thank Caz and Debbie for that. No matter if you know everything or nothing about Hip hop go and see a true master at work....i recommend this tour 110% for anyone. Real Hip hop lives on!. | ||||||

| The information conveyed was interesting. But I wished there had been more discussion between points of interest about the nature of hip-hop culture or some personal stories about the tour leaders experiences with hip-hop. I would still reccomend it for people with an interest in hip-hop. | ||||||

| I had a great time and learned a lot about the beginnings of the rap genre. Best parts: 1. I got to meet Raheim Williams from Grandmaster Flash! 2. We got to get off the bus and walk around the famous sites. 3. We got to take photos on and off the bus. 4. We ate at a fantastic soul food restaurant. 5. We got to see the Apollo Theater (the outside, anyway). 6. We felt safe the entire time. 7. Raheim performed an impromptu rap on the bus! 8. Guests got the chance to perform rap on the bus. 9. Raheim was genuinely friendly and funny! Things I would change: 1. Be able to enter the Apollo and look around. 2. See a break dance performance (I thought we were going to see one because there is a photo of one on the Zerve site). 3. Stress more that the souvenir CD samples songs and doesn't have the whole song. 4. Play more music on the bus. Match the songs to what the guide is discussing. Let the guide talk, then play a whole song, not just 10 seconds. Somehow more rap music should be worked into the presentation. 5. See a DJ demonstration in a gym or rec center (maybe combine it with the break dance). 6. Get a free t-shirt with each ticket purchased. 7. Pimp up the bus with spinning hubcaps, gold chains, etc... | ||||||

| we were in NY for 1 week with my husband's 2 teenaged brothers. my husband and i are both in our late 20s. this tour was really great. i love music and listen mostly to rock and alternative. so getting informed about hip hop history and culture was quite a treat! this tour is good for all ages, there were grandparent-y types in our tour too who enjoyed it. our tour guide was engaging and he even performed a few rap songs in the end of the tour. it makes me appreciate rap as poetry and not some mindless recitation of words. to top it all off, the soul food lunch we had was awesome. the 2 teenagers we were with said it was the best meal we had in our whole trip! it's really a good tour to join if you have time. it beats joining typical touristy double-decker tours since you get exposed to the other side of new york. | ||||||

| Our tour guide was Raheim from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and he was great at breaking down the orgins of hip-hop culture. My brother said it was one of the best tours he's ever been on and I agree ! If you want to avoid the tourist traps and visit the real New York, this tour is not to be missed. | ||||||

Nice walking tour of Harlem Walk This Way - Harlem Hip Hop Walking Tour |
|||||
| Thu, Apr 6, 06 1:00 PM | hwstoll | Male | 50-59 | Domestic Tourist(s) | Family With Children | |
| Although billed as a hip-hop tour, this was at least as much a walking tour of Harlem in general. That was fine with us, but it might be included in the description. Also, we ended up pretty far away from our starting point by the official end of the tour. Again, this was not a problem for our family, but it might be for tourists who expect to be returned to their starting point. Our tour guide was very friendly and personable. | ||||||

| We probably seemed an unlikely group to be on the tour. Two middle aged white parents with their teenage sons. However, we all thoroughly enjoyed it . Our sons are big into hip hop - as Rahim may have told you!!! We too are very interested in all forms of music and youth culture. Rahim was a great guide. He managed to convey hip hop's history in a way which highlighted its relevance to its present day forms - music and graffiti. We all know and love Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, so it just gave it that added something to be guided by a one-time member. The trip to the Graffiti Wall of Fame was a great moment, especially for my eldest son who is a bit of an artist himself. I think we would all have liked to see some more 'informal' graffiti too, but perhaps the Mayor's 'zero tolerance' has made that impossible? From my point of view, I was really pleased to see graffiti by young women on the Pink Wall. Going to Harlem was brilliant. We live in multiracial south London, but there is still nowhere to compare Harlem with here. I loved the energy of the place. I The tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.We were just sorry that we couldn't manage the coach tour too, but we'll definitely do that next time. You have a great thing going. Thank you. Heather Wakefield. | ||||||

| It was great to meet a legend Grandmaster Caz, he was very enthusiastic, entertaining and had a vast insight to the history of Hip Hop. It was good to visit places like Bronx and Harlem which as tourist you are generally put off visiting. This tour made you feel quite safe going to these areas and highlighted the transformation that has taken place. Time flew by on the tour and you felt like you wanted it to last longer. Our 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son really enjoyed it; their best part was wearing the bling and the kangol hats. Visiting Rucker Park & the Graffiti Hall Of Fame was of special interest to my husband. For my 19 year old nephew, the soul food at the restaurant was the highlight of the tour. Great value for money and would recommend it to anyone visiting NYC with an interest in Hip Hop. The Catford (London) Crew. | ||||||
