Actually, to tell you the truth it isnt so much about visiting places, even though you see some really cool and great things (which are a must), My host, hip hop pioneer Reggie Reg, was really cool, and fun to be with, what he said was more 'before my time' (Im 14)- my dad knew what he was talkin about! It was interesting, all of what he said, its all realy about wat he says. You should really experience this, whether you addicted to hip hop like me or just enjoy learning about that music. AK

Fab hosts really looked after us and we thought the graffiti stop was awesome! Perhaps we could have stopped in Queens at the town centre where all the hip hop bling was on sale to buy a few gifts. Otherwise a great day for true hip hop fans. Thanks again

This is a fun thing to do in NY and my ten year old son particularly enjoyed it. However, it does rely on the energy of the rest of the group to be really successful - which is something out of the hands of the tour guide. On our tour were approximately 20 people from a group, plus myself , my son and two others. I did feel that the large group overwhelmed the tour, excluded others and monopolized the tour. If you are in a group made up of friendly individuals/couples/families you'll have fun. That said though, Reggie Reg was great - if a little unprepared regarding his batteries (as mentioned by another person's review who was in this group), and I really feel that the film at the Museum of the City of New York was superfluous to the tour. It was great to see interesting historical sights of Harlem, especially BOBBY (it wasn't Smokey) ROBINSON'S Harlem Happy House record store, Malcolm X Mosque and the Graffitti wall of fame. An interesting way to while away a Sunday afternoon.

I personally know quite a lot about hip hop and its origins, and am a big fan of this music genre in particular and of many other music genres. I love listening to the great motown legends and the apollo was a great highlight for me, as was meeting the legendary Smokie Robinson which left me star-struck. Walking through Harlem was also very interesting and both myself and my husband felt comfortable strolling along the streets of this historic neighborhood. Reggie Reg was our guide, and at first he used a microphone which allowed us too to hear about the history we were walking through, even though we were often at the back. Unfortunately, very early on, he claimed that his microphone was not working because the batteries were flat (he should come ready with charged batteries) and from this time on we generally had no idea of what was being said by him. He also failed to wait for everyone to catch up before explaining about a site. These are things that can be corrected, and from what we did hear, Reggie has great knowledge of hip hop and it's history and is a fun guy to be around. Despite these mishaps, both my husband and I recommend taking this interesting tour. It is different and a unique experience.

my boy and i took this tour to check out historic places in NYC that were important in the early days of hip hop. As both of us have been down with hip hop for 10-15 years we werent after the beginner class style that the tour was. Would have been dope if the tour have delved deeper into the mindset of the movement (but cant expect much as its more aimed at tourists/people who dont follow hip hop). Caz was the best mc we could have hoped for, entertained us like crazy and we were lucky enough to meet KRS-1 on our tour so u aint gonna catch too much reck from us. Look forward to a tour (if possible) that takes heads deeper into the old stomping grounds of all the elements of this ish'. THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND - U NEVER KNOW WHO U COULD CATCH CRUISIN WITH CAZ IN NYC!!

We met at an easy location close to the empire state building. (only down side was our hotel was in Harlem so we had to travel all the way downtown just to go back.). The tour owner and bus driver were a little late, but no one seemed to mind...the tour was pretty laid back. Grandmaster Caz was great! He was a wealth of information about the hip-hop world and its inception. He was genuienly happy to education us about a cuture and music that some of the people on the tour knew nothing about. We saw the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on the upper east side where such people like Biggie Smalls and Luther Vandross had their services. We saw the grafitti hall of fame in Harlem. We saw the Apollo Theatre, the famous Theresa Hotel (where plenty of celebrities have stayed), and "The Carlton" building from "New Jack City." We had lunch at "Mannas Soul Food Buffet and Salad Bar." The food was wonderful and the prices were reasonable (around $13 for 2 people). We also saw the mosque wear Malcolm X worshipped, and we spent some time at Ruckers Park. We drove over to the Bronx and saw the building where THE first hip-hop party was (remember August 11, 1973, if anyone decides to take this tour!) Our tour got a special bonus. While driving in the Bronx, we saw KRS-ONE giving an interview in a parking lot and we were able to meet and talk with him. He was really cool about it, and everyone just felt that was a great way to finish such a fun day. We had to cut one thing out of the tour due to the KRS-ONE detour, but no one cared. Grandmaster Caz performed one of his songs, which was awesome! We returned relatively on time to the same spot they picked us up. The bus was comfortable; a little warm a times, but we were getting off of it so much, you really could tell. All in all it was a great tour. If you like hip-hop music and want to see where it began, this is a great starting point. If you spend the night, I recommend staying in Harlem. I walked around Harlem the rest of the weekend and had an amazing time soaking in more history, and culture, and the great food! Thanks Hushtours!

I thought the enthuiasm shown by our guide was second to none but I think it would of been nice to have met further uptown to avoid the journey uptown which seemed to take a great length of time. I hoped we would of spent a bit more time in the Bronx and visited a few more spots rather than the one port of call at Sedgewick Avenue. Although seeing KRS 1 was a bonus I would of thought a visit to the Wildstyle Amphitheate or to Kool Herc's old club would of been more educational to the Hip Hop enthusiast than a trip to 125th Street. And I felt the restaurant trip was not really necessary. Cas was a good tour guide and his rap at the end of the tour was a good end to an overall satisfying 4 hours.

We had an amazing day with our fantastic tour guide, Reggie Reg. Our 18 year old son was the one who originally wanted this tour, but both my husband and I enjoyed it immensely. We recommend it to all visitors to NYC - it tells the history of Hip Hop, which is an important cultural factor today, AND it gives you hope for the future (if you ever lost it), because it emphasises the enthusiasm and joy of human beings. DO NOT miss this opportunity!

Merci HusH Tours, merci Harlem! peace from France

We had to wait 15 minutes while the bus was set up. Setup with what I don't know since, there was nothing on the bus when we boarded. What the website depicts the tour to be, was actually the last thing it was. The tour guide kept saying how we were driving in his home town, yet couldn't remember what street to exit off of. Pretty sad. I would not recommend this tour to anyone, it was boring, uninformative and poorly planned. Total rip off!!!!!!!

first of all, you must know that all three in my party loved the idea of this and we were super excited to participate in the tour. there were highlights of the three hour experience (five points, the shop stop) but definitely long periods of time that were very boring for everyone on the bus. our host mikey-d was a nice person... but not "on" for most of the time. he also was drinking throughout the day...on one stop he bought a "tall boy" budweiser and drank out of a paper bag. on another stop he bought another alcoholic bev and drank out of a paper bag. seriously unprofessional. add to that - no one in charge "knew how to work dvd player" so movie was not shown during boring parts of trip. the bottom line is that I wish mikey-d had been "on" more...when he was - he was good. also, the tour is too long. there is not enough material to fill up three hours so most of the time is spent riding around with no narration. drinking during the tour added the unprofessional touch that put it over the top. i'm sorry, but i wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. also, i'm in public relations in new york - you could have had a big fan!!!

the greatest thing about the tour was definitely the guide, grandmaster caz. he was very funny and inspiring - and he told some funny anecdotes about the birth of hiphop. if you can live with the awkward feeling of going on a safari into places where regular people live (you'll - rightfully - catch some bitter comments from the people living in harlem and in the bronx) i can definitely recommend it. bless up!

Friendly knowledgeable guide. Good start with the video presentation at the Museum, and fun to walk around listening to music. Relaxed vibe. Good cd.
