I really enjoyed it ... but .... the product is billed as "with Kurtis Blow" ... however, he wasnt there at all. From the information supplied on your site, I was under the impression that he would be leading the service. he wasnt there at all though. I was very disappointed, because the main reason I went was because Kurtis was gonna be there (i'm a massive, massive fan and I travelled all the way from Sydney).
So yeah, was disappointing.
Having said that, i found the tour fun, and the guide, Debra, was excellent. I think the company should put a disclaimer on the site about Kurtis not definitely being there, just so people like me dont end up disappointed when he doesnt turn up.

Ce fut une agréable surprise de découvrir cette église en plein coeur de Harlem!
Une église où le début de la cérémonie est effectuée sous le signe du rap et de l'impro le tout accompagné de véritables musiciens.
Vint ensuite l'unique, le véritable Kurtis Blow venu répandre la bonne parole: un moment inoubliable.
On se dit alors que les vrais valeurs du hip-hop ne sont pas encore mortes...

What an amazing experience to be part of the congregation at the Hip Hop Church. Debra very kindly escorted me herself, and introduced me to Kurtis Blow on arrival. The night was full of energy, and wonderful entertainment. I almost forgot I was in a church! The Pastor has created a great thing, and I hope it continues to be as strong as it is, with whoever replaces him. I was made to feel very welcome, and enjoyed taking part in the singing and dancing in the pews. An experience I will always remember fondly, and something I will never experience anywhere else! |

Worshiping at the Hip Hop Church was a wonderful experience. We were welcomed with open arms and had an opportunity to worship in a new way. This church has a great outreach to their community and their energy is infectious. I come to New York often but had never visited this church before. I am glad that I happened upon this opportunity. I will definitely go back during succeeding trips. Debra and Donovan, our escorts, were gracious and helpful. My daughter and I had a great evening ! |

WE EXPECTED TO BE PICKED UP BY A BUS LIKE THE SATURDAY ACTIVITIES AND ACTUALLY SEE HARLEM BUT INSTEAD WE WENT BY SUBWAY AND GOT OUT RIGHT AT THE CHURCH AND SAW NOTHING. WOULD HAVE PREFRRED A BUS TRIP AND THAT WAY WE COULD HAVE SEEN THE AREA.
I THINK $25 IS EXPENSIVE TO HAVE TO CATCH A SUBWAY TO A CHURCH THAT IS ACTUALLY FOR FREE TO GO TO.
APART FROM THE ABOVE COMMENTS, I AM GLAD I WENT AND HAVE RECOMMENDED IT TO OTHERS |
